Cavaleiros da Luz Spiritist Center, CNPJ 15.679.384/0001-98, currently located at Barreto Pedroso street, 295 - Pituaçu, ZIP code 41.741-030, Salvador - BA, began with meetings of friends for the study of the Gospel According to Spiritism , which were made in homes previously combined and given by the group, when on July 12, 1978, José Medrado and his companions officially founded the Spiritist Center. Initially based in the neighborhood of Barbalho, later in its own headquarters in the neighborhood of Uruguay, with doctrinal activities, starting social works with the local community, and in 1984 the Institution accepted the invitation of the Judge of Law, Dr. Aguinaldo Bahia Monteiro, to assume the direction and maintenance of the orphanage "Lar Padre Manuel da Nóbrega", at Afonso Sertão street, 22 - Ribeira.
Without interrupting the work of the headquarters of Uruguay, already solidified in that community, a more daring project was started, the construction of the Cidade da Luz complex, on a land acquired in the neighborhood of Pituaçu, officially inaugurated on February 27, 1996, initially with the buildings of the Cavaleiros da Luz Spiritist Center and Lar Luz do Amanhã orphanage, institution for children care of both sex in the age group from 01 to 07 years old.
Cidade da Luz is an idealized social complex founded by José Medrado, where the Cavaleiros da Luz Spiritist Center and the other sectors of doctrinal and social works developed by this institution are concentrated.
